Scottish Building Regulations: Fire Safety Review and Compliance: Call for Evidence

One of the key drivers for a focus on quality is to produce buildings which are safe to occupy and use. The Grenfell Tower disaster is the ultimate failure of this requirement.

As a part of a key commitment in their response to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry’s final report, the Scottish Government has launched a Call for Evidence to review Section 2 (Fire) of the Building Standards in Scotland. The evidence received will shape the scope, priorities and actions needed to improve fire safety across all building types in Scotland.

As a part of the same consultation they are also further consulting on the developing Compliance Plan Approach for high-risk buildings.

This is an opportunity for all those that care about building safety and quality to contribute to an important piece of work and we would encourage you to participate.
