A key part of the CQIC strategy to create a sustainable quality culture is through engagement and collaboration across the sector. As a part of the plan for engagement with as wide an audience of stakeholders as possible, CQIC has facilitated a number of “quality forums”. The first of these was a regional forum held in Dumfries with support from Dumfries & Galloway Council. The second forum was supported by Aberdeenshire Council and took place in their HQ in Aberdeen. These regional forums brought together representatives from across the sector – clients, consultants, designers, contractors and members of the supply chain. They were an opportunity to explore key issues affecting the delivery of construction quality generally and to consider the additional challenges arising in the geographical location in which they were held. Another regional forum was subsequently held in Perth with support from Perth & Kinross Council.
As well as regional forums, a number of sector specific forums have been held. The first of these was supported and hosted by RICS in their Edinburgh offices. This forum was attended by senior management from member organisations of RICS who provide PM and QS services. This was followed by a session with members of the architectural profession supported by RIAS in their Edinburgh office.
CQIC is extremely grateful to all those that have sponsored these sessions and those that have attended them. It is by working together that we will see true change to the quality culture across construction.
The notes of each of these discussions, which were provided to the participants after each event, give an insight into the engagement that took place. They are available here –
