One of the topics that comes up in every discussion on the challenges to delivering consistent quality in construction is procurement. Procurement of consultancy and design, the main contractor and  the supply chain all need to take quality into account and all have a major impact on the quality that will be delivered on the project.

Scottish Government Procurement Policy Unit ran a series of webinars a few years ago under the banner “the Construction Procurement Sessions”. They are re-starting those webinars and the first one will be held on 23 September 2025.

This session will look at the importance of sustainable pricing in construction and its links to quality outputs and outcomes. It will also cover the Graduated Pricing Mechanism and Abnormally Low Tenders. It is highly relevant and open to anyone from the public and private sectors who has an interest in the delivery of construction projects and, importantly, the delivery of construction quality. Presenters will be Iain Ross and Clare Paterson, both Principal Construction Advisers in the Scottish Government’s Construction Procurement Policy Unit.
