Compliance, Safety and Quality are three subjects that are fundamental to the success of any project. They are also inextricably linked and CQIC is constantly referring to them and  promoting a proactive approach to them. We were pleased to be invited to discuss the work of CQIC on a webinar held by Scottish Futures Trust (SFT) that was held back in March 2026. Although targeted at Participants in the national hub initiative, the webinar will be of interest to everyone that cares about Compliance, Safety and Quality on their projects.

Frank Doherty of Scottish Government Building Standards Division provided an update on progress of the new Compliance Plan Approach (CPA) to Building Standards. The CPA is a part of the Scottish Government response to the Grenfell Tragedy.

Ewen Fowlie of hub North Scotland presented on the approach they take to quality to assure the delivery of well designed, well constructed and safe facilities for end users.

Iain Kent, co-chair of CQIC, spoke about the recommendations CQIC have developed for the better use of Contractor Design Portions (CDP) in support of Compliance and Construction Quality. You can read more about the Recommendations and access them here – CDP Recommendations
